Iran Begs for Talks, But Trump Delivers Brutal Verdict: 'Ceasefire is Over!'

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on Friday (July 10) that the Iranian government reached out to Washington to continue negotiations between the two countries. However, Trump emphasized that the U.S. made it clear that the ceasefire between the parties is "over."

In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that Washington communicated "without any room for doubt" that the ceasefire had come to an end. "The Islamic Republic of Iran asked us to continue the 'talks.' We agreed to do so, but the United States made it clear to them, without any room for doubt, that the ceasefire is over! Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump wrote in his post.

The statement comes amid rising tensions between the two countries, following Washington's new attacks on Iranian targets and accusations that Tehran is threatening commercial navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran retaliated with attacks on U.S. facilities in the region, and Trump declared the truce reached weeks earlier to be over.

Despite the U.S. president's hardline stance, the U.S. has agreed to maintain "technical talks" with Iran, according to official sources. The decision to keep channels open, even after the end of the ceasefire, reflects the complexity of relations between Washington and Tehran, which oscillate between military confrontation and attempts at dialogue.
